Flickering apps or screens on a computer can be a frustrating issue, but there are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to identify and potentially fix the problem. Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. Restart Your Computer

A simple restart can often resolve minor software glitches. Turn off your computer, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

2. Check for Software Updates

Ensure that your operating system and all your apps are up to date. Sometimes, flickering issues can be resolved by simply updating to the latest version of your software. If you are unsure how to update your computer check out the How-To articles to apply updates.

3. Test on Another Monitor/Screen

If you're using an external monitor, try connecting your computer to a different one to see if the issue persists. This will help determine whether the problem is with the monitor or the computer itself.

4. Check for Physical Damage

If you're using a laptop, check for any physical damage to the screen or cable connections. Damaged hardware can lead to flickering.

5. Reinstall Problematic Apps

If the flickering occurs with specific apps, try uninstalling and then reinstalling those apps to see if it resolves the issue.

6. Hardware Testing

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible there's a hardware problem with your graphics card, monitor, or other components. Contact IT for further assistance.

Remember to back up your important data before attempting any major changes to your system, especially if you suspect a hardware issue. If the problem persists after trying these steps, it's a good idea to submit a ticket for assistance from IT.
